چکیده

Motion blur is a well-established technique which prevents strobing by making fast moving objects appear blurred. In cel animation however, different methods are used and this paper presents a new technique to emphasise the motion of cartoon objects through the application of geometry. We term the involved non-photorealistic motion blur as ‘cartoon blur’. In order to express cartoon blur, we have classified the expressions used in cel animation and analysed the diversity of each expression to establish parameters that allow animators to control the expressions.

Depicting Motion in Motionless Pictures

How do we present the motion of objects in computer generated still images? Generally, we don’t. Or, if we do, we use motion blurring to simulate a real-world camera [PC83]. Besides, it costs a great deal of extra rendering time, and the only thing it does is blur the objects so that their contours are unrecognizable. The goal to convey information about the movement per se is not entirely met....

Improving Super-resolution Techniques via Employing Blurriness Information of the Image

Super-resolution (SR) is a technique that produces a high resolution (HR) image via employing a number of low resolution (LR) images from the same scene. One of the degradations that attenuates performance of the SR is the blurriness of the input LR images. In many previous works in the SR, the blurriness of the LR images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the image sensor of the im...

A Non-uniform Motion Blur Parameter Identification and Restoration using Frequency and Cepstral Domain

A near accurate method for extracting blur parameters from a non-uniformly motion blurred images; in a blind image deconvolution scheme is proposed. In case of a non-uniform motion blur, we should be able to extract both the blur parameters and the combination of their extent fairly accurate, in order to improve the quality of the restored image. Initially, the parameters of the motion blur poi...

Super-resolution of Defocus Blurred Images

Super-resolution is a process that combines information from some low-resolution images in order to produce an image with higher resolution. In most of the previous related work, the blurriness that is associated with low resolution images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the acquisition device’s image sensor. However, in practice there are other sources of blurriness as well, inc...

Motion blur and motion sharpening in the human visual system

The effect of motion sharpening upon blur discrimination thresholds was examined for a range of speeds and blur widths. Blur discrimination thresholds were measured for drifting edges whose blur was either physically or perceptually constant. Under conditions where edges were kept at a constant physical blur width, discrimination thresholds rose as a function of speed as previously reported. Ho...
